Nasa chooses Roscosmos for HLS lander: Nasa has chosen Roscosmos for HLS, vintage Soviet hardware to be used for half the price of Starship

Houston, TX—NASA announced in a press conference that they will be selecting Roscosmos to develop the Artemis HLS. This bid came after SpaceX's proposal of $2.9 billion, when Roscosmos only offered $1 billion, making them the obvious choice. The price was so low because they are using already tested technology in the N-1 and  the LK.

This comes as a surprise, because Roscosmos wasn't in the running until today, so NASA has a lot more research to do before carrying out this mission. This comes as a shock to the space community, with Twitter user Latt Mowne saying

This is outrageous! How dare NASA not use the beautiful, majestic Starship, but use dinky, old, soviet technology

It is a truly chaotic scene on every social platform.
