Starbase, TX — Today, SpaceX announced that they will be using starhopper once more as an orbital test vehicle. Harcus Mouse, a Raptor technician, who works closely with us, said:
In order to test the super heavy booster, we decided to put starhopper on bn3's maiden flight. We will attempt to recover the booster, but without the heat shield tiles, we can't recover starhopper, so to commemorate hopper, we will be sending it around the moon.
It is assumed that the reason that they are doing this is to have a mass simulator on the top of BN3, so that the prototype can do a simulation of a full mission. Starhopper will be missed in the community, but will be used one final time for the betterment of the starship program.
